Mr Naveen Adalaka, a Rotary Club Member and a GDGWI faculty worked with Executive Director (Student Welfare) Neha Pathak to start-up a Rotaract Club at GDGWI. As the principal mentor, Naveen worked tirelessly with several students to make this initiative a reality. The official investiture of GDGWI’s Rotaract Club took place at a special event on 26 February 2015. Participants at this event included Rotary’s District Governor Sanjay Khanna, Rotary Club Gurgaon President Dr Pushpa Sethi, office bearers and members of the Rotary Club of Gurgaon, GDGWI’s Director Professor Suku Bhaskaran, and office bearers of GDGWI Rotaract Club.
GDGWI’s Rotaract Club, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Gurgaon is only the third Rotaract Club to be established in Gurgaon, a commendable milestone.
Rotaract, established in 1968 in North Carolina (USA), was a Rotary International initiative. Its objective was to organise individuals of 18–30 years to participate in service, leadership and community service under the mentorship of a sponsoring Rotary Club. GDGWI’s Rotaract Club joins a global family of more than 9,500 clubs and 220,000 members united in a common mission to provide community service.
