Career overview

Vandana Mehrotra has 13 years of corporate and 9 years of teaching experience in the field of finance and accounts which includes work on international finance, resource mobilisation, securitisation, asset – liability management, derivatives and financial accounting.

She started her career in 1994 with an original equipment manufacturing company (OEM). She worked over 10 years (from 1996 to 2007) with National Housing Bank (NHB), New Delhi, a 100% subsidiary of Reserve Bank of India. At NHB, she gained valuable experience in different fields like resource mobilisation, treasury operations, accounting functions, refinance operations and securitisation. She was instrumental in the launch of the pilot issue of Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS) in India.

She moved to the education sector in 2007 and joined IILM Institute for Higher Education. Vandana has taught various courses at post-graduate and undergraduate levels. She also served as the Associate Dean of the Undergraduate Programme run by IILM in collaboration with University of Bradford, UK.

She joined GDGWI in 2014. Currently, she is the Area Chair of Accounting & Finance area. Her area of interest in research is intellectual capital disclosure by corporates.
