G D Goenka World Institute and Lancaster University – 2nd Graduation Ceremony.
On February 7th, the 2012 academic year graduation ceremony was held for undergraduate and Post-Graduate programmes of GD Goenka World Institute(GDGWI) and Lancaster University. The ceremony marked a new beginning for 175 students. It was chaired by Professor Mark E Smith – Vice-chancellor Lancaster University and the Chief Guest was Shree Ajeet Bajaj F.R.G.S. – Padma Shree awardee. The day of the ceremony was brightened not only by the sunny weather but also by the proud smiles of the graduates and their families.
Workshop by Mr. Suresh Kumar - NLP Practitioner & Graphologist
Mr. Suresh Kumar a well known certified NLP Practitioner & Graphologist visited campus on 18th January, 2013 to interact with students, faculty and staff on “Handwriting Analysis – Know yourself through graphology”. The session was highly informative and engaging.
A Visit to Parliament & Interaction With Highest Paid CEO of the country & One of the youngest Parliamentarian
December 10, 2012, the memorable day for all the GDWI students under the guidance of Dr. Sushi Singh visited the Constitution Club of India and the Parliament. The students first got the wonderfulopportunity to meet one of the youngest members of the parliament, Mr Jindal, thechairman of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd.
An Interaction With Missile Man & Former President: Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
On the 7th December 2012 a group of 30 GDGWI students met the Ex-President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam at his residence. A highly spirited Dr. Kalam greeted the students who were accompanied by Dr. Sushi Singh. The students then participated in a very enlightening discussion with the highly learned Dr. Kalam where they discussed the need of the country for great thinkers and employment creator rather than employment seeker as that is what can help the country develop economically and prosperously.
Visit to Mother Dairy on 15th September, 2012 In continuation to our efforts towards facilitating industrial exposure through Industry Visit for the students, we had organized the Visit to Mother Dairy on 15th September, 2012. Students from all stream were welcomed by Mr. I. M. Jose – Incharge – CIS. In his interaction with students he explained the technology involved in processing of milk through state of the art equipment. He also explained how technology integrates and completely automates all functions of milk processing and ensures high product quality, reliability and safety
Guest Lecture - Ms. Rita Soni – CEO , NASSCOM Foundation
As part of the Corporate Connect Series Lecture at GDGWI, We were more than delighted to welcome Ms. Rita Soni – CEO – NASSCOM Foundation on 12th October, 2012.She shared her experience and brief about “Create Value Responsibility – MBA Oath”. The session was highly informative and interesting which lead to adding value to the students.
Competency Building Lab Competency Building Lab is an intensive day-long process to enhance the students' employability skills. PGDBM first and second year students participated in the said Lab on 6th October, 2012. This skill assessment and development leads to individual profiling of students which, in turn, helps them understand their strengths and weaknesses and also the areas to be worked upon for a successful corporate life.
Industry Visit – Parle Biscuits Pvt. Ltd. As part of Industry Series, GDGWI Students from all the academic streams visited Parle Biscuits Pvt. Ltd., on 22nd September, 2012. Students were welcomed by the management at plant. Then the students were explained bout the manufacturing processes of Biscuits and other products for example Wafers, Fulltoss etc. GDGWI express it sincere thanks and regards to Parle Biscuits Pvt. Ltd. for giving hands on knowledge of the manufacturing processes.
Industry Visit – IUP Jindal Metals & Alloys Ltd. As a part of the CRC initiative on Industrial Visit Series, Students from all the academic streams visited IUP Jindal Metals and Alloys on 22nd September, 2012. Students were well received by the authorities and were given warm welcome. Then the students were briefed about the manufacturing process of Metals. GDGWI express its sincere thanks and regards to IUP Jindal Metals and Alloys Limited and the management to make this happen and giving students a life time opportunity to learn at their establishment.

Visited our campus on 21st September, 2012, for an interactive session with Finance students on the topics "Stock Market in India and Concept of a stock Market and its function. In his session he educated students on the importance of Stock Market.
Guest Lecture by Dr. Rachna Bhatia – Sr. Manager – Black Belt Corporate – Genpact Limited Dr. Rachna Bhatia - Sr. Manager – Black Belt Corporate – Genpact Limited, visited our Campus on Thursday, September 20, 2012 for an interactive learning session with the students. Dr. Rachna Bhatia shared her personal experience in Corporate world in different domains. She also talk about the basics of Seven Habits of Highly Effective Managers. She also touch upon the basics of Quality Lean six sigma. The session was highly interactive.

As part of the Corporate Connect Series Lecture 2012 – 13, We at GDGWI were more than delighted to welcome Mr. Nirmal Chowdhary – AGM – HR – Hero MotoCorp Ltd., on 13th September, 2012. In his interaction with students he shared his experience of “Campus to Corporate”. The session of very interactive and insightful which lead to adding value to the Students perspective towards their future.
Industry Visit - Bisleri International Ltd.
As part of the CRC initiative on Industrial visit series- 2012 -13, students from all the academic streams visited Bisleri International Ltd manufacturing plant on 11th September, 2012, and interacted with their officials at plant. The interaction was quite detailed and students were briefed about the process right from the manufacturing of bottle to water purification with all technical and scientific processes like using of Ozone and TDS (Total Dissolving Solid).
GDGWI Inbound Summer School – 2012 GDGWI on 1st September, 2012 welcomed the student delegation from Lancaster University, UK. The delegation was addressed by the Exchange Programme Director Dr.Sushi Singh along with the Student Organisers of the Summer School. The LU students were a bit tired but were excited at the same time. A familiarisation session was organised wherein the students from Lancaster University introduced themselves and learnt about the campus, the facilities available and about what all awaits them in the coming three weeks.

Lancaster University is ranked 9th in the Times Higher Education 100 Under 50 inaugural league table of the world’s best young universities. Phil Baty, the editor of Times Higher Education Rankings, said: “The innovative Times Higher Education 100 Under 50 is not about the old institutions that dominate the traditional rankings: it is about a new breed of global universities – those that have managed to join the world’s top table in just decades rather than centuries, and others showing great promise for the future. Lancaster ranked 7th in Guardian University Guide 2013 Lancaster University is ranked 7th out of 120 institutions in the UK in The Guardian University Guide 2013, published 22 May 2012. The Guide is designed to help students pick a course for 2013. The tables are based on measures such as graduate career prospects, how highly final-year students rate their experience, a value-added score, spending per student and staffing ratios. Dr. Girijesh Kumar Mehta is a Distinguished Honarary Professor of the Department. He obtained his doctoral degree at the University of Columbia, USA and carried out postdoctoral research at the Brookhaven National Laboratory, USA. He joined IIT Kanpur in 1964 and established the accelerator laboratory here. In 1984 he became the joint director of Nuclear Science Center, New Delhi ( now Inter University Accelerator Center) and the director in 1988 till 2001. He served as the Vice Chancellor of University of Allahabad from 2001- 2004.

Sachchida Nand Sinha received his M. Tech. and Ph. D. degrees in Structural Engineering from I.I.T. Delhi after obtaining his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Ranchi University. His research areas include reinforced concrete and brick masonry structures, structural damage and retrofitting, experimental testing of structures and plated structures. He has written 90 research papers in International/National Journals and Conferences. He has also written two books. He has guided large number of Ph. D. and M. Tech.
Mr Partha Sen (President & Chief Executive Officer, Fuzzy Logix LLC, USA) visited GDGWI Campus on 6th March, 2012
An eminent corporate leader, Mr Partha Sen (President & Chief Executive Officer, Fuzzy Logix LLC, USA), visited GDGWI on 6th March 2012 to present a seminar and interact with our students. Before setting up Fuzzy Logix, Partha Sen has worked at Bank of America, Ernst and Young and Tata Consultancy Services. He has a Bachelor of Engineering, with a major in computer science and a minor in mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology. He also has an MBA from Wake Forest University.
The first GDGWI-Lancaster University Graduation ceremony took place on Wednesday 8th February 2012 in Delhi. All eligible graduating students were invited. A live webcast of the same was also arranged.
Industrial and educational tour to TATA Motors and places of great cultural importance at Lucknow on 19th November, 2011
As part of the CRC initiative on Industrial visit series, Students from all the academic streams visited Lucknow on November 19, 2011 and interacted with the management of TATA Motors ( TELCO ) plant. The interaction was quite detailed and students were brief by managers as how the trucks and buses are being assembled and were in detailed explained by all the section heads of various phases of assembly line. Q&A was quite encouraging & informative and students were guided to the minute details of automobile engineering aspects. It was indeed a very enriching experience. Management at GDGWI expresses its sincere thanks and regards to TATA Motors management to make this happen and giving students a life time opportunity to learn at their establishment.
Guest Lecture by Prof. George Brock
Prof. George Brock, Professor and Head of Journalism, City University London gave a lecture on “Is Wikileaks the future of Journalism” at GD Goenka World Institute on the 17th November 2011 at 3pm which was attended by a number of faculty and students. On his arrival, the welcome speech was given by Jattin Agarwal and was presented with a bouquet by Mr. Puri, Director of Engineering. Prof. Brock covered various topics that was concerned with Wikileaks such as the history of Wikileaks, its effects, the disappointment the founders faced due to certain after affects and the unexpected effects after Wikileaks. He stated various events where Wikileaks leaked information to the public and the effects of each.
Mr. Kamal Singh , Director - AIMA visited GDGWI
As part of the Corporate Connect Series Lecture at GDGWI, We were more than delighted to welcome Mr. Kamal Singh , Director - AIMA on Tuesday, November 15, 2011. He shared his experience and wisdom with students across all streams and also made a presentation on "Emerging Challenges in Global Business; Industry expectations from MBA's". His session was informative, experiential learning and on the top of it, inspiring. On behalf of GDGWI, we extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Kamal Singh to take time out from his busy schedule and spent his valuable time with budding managers on campus.
As part of Industry Visit series, GDGWI students were invited by NSE to visit their establishment on November 4, 2011. On arrival at NSE, Students were well received by officials from NSE and were given a warm welcome. Then an intense session with NSE officials began and presentation on NSE was made. They were also given a simulation exposure as how trade is done on NSE using various software based interaction. Question and Answer session was also very informative. GDGWI expresses its sincere thanks to NSE for making this possible for GDGWI students... |








On 1st June 2012 Dr. Gita Bajaj conducted a workshop on case study methodology for faculty members of GD Goenka World Institute. Dr Gita is Associate Professor (Business Communication) and chairperson of the Post Graduate Program in International Management at MDI Gurgaon. She received her training in case study methodology at the Harvard Business School.
