  • 10th September, ‘10 Cultural Club: Fresher’s Night Celebration on campus! The night saw incoming students shed all their inhibitions and participate in dance, music and oratory competitions.

  • 10th September, ‘10 CSR Society: The CSR Society invited two guest lecturers - Mr. Viraf Mehta, renowned CSR Activist, Ex-CEO of PICINDIA and Dr. Tejinder Kataria, Chairperson of the Division of Radiation Oncology at Medanta hospital - to help the students realise the importance of being giving citizens.

  • 13th September, ’10 E-Cell: The highlight of E-Cell’s week-long celebrations was an interactive session with the renowned Entrepreneur Mr. Ajay Chaturvedi, CEO, Harva.

  • 18th September, ’10 Sports Club: The first activity conducted by the Sports Club was its organisation of the Inter College Cricket Match against JK Business School.  The GDGWI Sports Club won the match by 70 runs.

  • 18th September, ’10 CSR Society: A combined presentation by the CSR Society and the visiting Lancaster Delegation on ‘Partnership Potential’ was presented to the Directors of the Institute.

  • 19th September, ’10 Cultural Club: The Cultural Club organised a glittering Farewell Party for the Lancaster Delegation in the amphitheatre.
  • World Tourism Day was also celebrated on the same day.

  • 20th September, ’10 CSR Society: The core team of CSR Society bid farewell to the Lancaster Delegation after spending 12 days with them exploring new ideas and possibilities of partnership potential with several NGOs and reputed Companies/Organisations such as Prayas, Helpage India, Sudha - the Nectar, SEED, ITC, Medicity, Redcross and American Express,  all known for their CSR activities.

  • 23rd September, ’10 YMC: The Club’s first Guest Speaker was Mr. Manish Vij, co-founder of Quasar Media, an integrated online interactive agency.  He enlightened the young BBA students with his experiences of the corporate world and shared tips on being an innovative entrepreneur and successful leader.

  • 2nd November, ‘10: Cultural Club & CSR Society, with the support of all club officials and volunteers, organised a successful charity show as part of the “Diwali Fest.” The Charity activities involved food, games and candle stalls, a rangoli and slogan writing competition. The staff, faculty and even school authorities generously bought the tickets and donated in cash and kind. The funds raised went towards donating jute school bags, canvas shoes for our little partners of Khaika village school project and the senior citizens of the old age home at Jasola.

  • 12th November, ‘10: CEO Club organised a lecture by Dr. Arun Kumar, Reader, University of Allahabad and entrepreneur.  His unique combination of significant contributions to academics and rich experience in the corporate world has enthused our budding young managers and future CEOs immensely.

  • 20th November, ‘10: The Sports Club organised an Inter-college cricket Match with KIIT, Gurgaon and accepted its first loss in two years with great sportsmanship and grace.  The team lost the match by 5 wickets.

  • The CSR Society enthusiastically continued its mission of giving back to society in every possible way.  Members not only tutored the students of Class IV for their half yearly examinations but also took up teaching Class V their 2nd semester syllabus.

    In giving out a new utility School bag to every child of the Khaika Village School, the Society achieved several important objectives.  The funds raised were put to judicious and practical use.  It also successfully and strongly conveyed the message ‘Say No to Polythene’ to the school children and their parents.

  • 24th November, ‘10: The CEO Club took another crucial step towards aligning with the external corporate world and by inviting Mr.Praveen Trivedi, Director SEBI-North region to deliver a lecture. Mr. Trivedi’s outlined the role of SEBI as a quasi-governmental regulator of the securities market.  He also showcased the goals and objectives of the organisation.  This was followed by Ms. Kataria’s multimedia presentation, which provided valuable insights of the current conditions in the financial securities market.

  • 3rd February ‘11:  The students of GDGWI visited Big FM a prominent partner of the Inter College Fest RAAS 2011.  The channel is popular among the youth.  Roping them in as a radio partner would give the festival great publicity and coverage.   The radio station offered to promote the fest on the 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th and 9th of February along with the regular announcements for the RAAS fest – 2011 and the guest performance by Indian Ocean.

  • They also offered to have contests for their college listeners as part of the promotional campaign.   The contest winners were given entry codes that corresponded to passes that allowed them to enter on the days of the gala event.  In return GDGWI offered to do a small segment, for them, on ‘life’ as a student and being a hosteller. 

  • 4-8 February, ‘11: An Intra-Campus Lawn Tennis Tournament was organised for the students of GDGWI and GDGWS between 4th and 8th February, 2011 at the GDGWI Lawn Tennis Courts.  122 students participated in the tournament!

  • 16th March, 2011, YMC Industry Visit: A group of 41 students from G.D Goenka World institute had an opportunity to visit Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd. at Ghaziabad on 16th March.   The plant and the production facilities are enormous, which is why the plant is capable of meeting the manufacturing, sales and distribution demands of beverages for the entire southern market.

  • 25th March, 2011 Guest Lecture, CEO Club: On 25th March Mr. Anil Katyal, Vice President Vodafone delivered a fascinating lecture on the nuances of communication skills.

  • 1st to 4th April 2011: Aventura Club organised an adventure trip to Rishikesh. It was a great success and the students had a really great time partaking in river-rafting, rappelling, hiking and valley-crossing, thereby enhancing their risk assessment and risk-taking capabilities.
