Dr Mishra has been an acclaimed international knowledge transfer expert for over a decade who has demonstrated academic leadership in conducting research and guiding relationships among industry leaders, R&D centers, policy makers, and research-intensive institutions of higher education. Working in collaboration with organizations such as IBM, Philips, and New York regional groups, he helped shape the strategic initiatives aimed at reviving the technological competitiveness and the entrepreneurial culture of New York region.Dr Mishra was a faculty of strategic management and international business at the State University of New York (SUNY). He also taught at the University of Alabama. Besides, he has had visiting faculty assignments with Rutgers University in New Jersey and Temple University in Philadelphia. As a professor, he experiments with new course contents, pedagogy, and textbooks, and has made continuous improvements in his courses to keep them current, applied and strategic. Currently he is also supporting the non-profit Initiative for Comprehensive Educational Exchange (ICEE) that facilitates design and execution of educational exchange programs between students and faculty of international universities - programs that are comprehensive, interdisciplinary, applied, experiential and current in nature. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Mishra designed railway electrification projects for SAE India Ltd, a subsidiary of Asea Brown Bovery (ABB), commissioned technical construction as Project Site Engineer for SPIE-CAPAG/NKK/TOYO Consortium on the HBJ Gas Pipeline Project, and as a Manager/Consultant in the Strategic Planning Group of Feedback Ventures, New Delhi, he developed strategic plans and feasibility reports on venture projects enhancing their acquisition prospects. Having completing his Bachelor’s from IIT Delhi, Dr. Mishra earned his post-graduate in urban planning from the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) and an MBA in international business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT). His industry assignments as a consultant/business analyst stimulated his interest in research/academic career and he completed his doctorate at the Fox School of Business (Temple University) in Philadelphia. His dissertation examined the effect of cross-national knowledge sourcing on innovation and pioneered theories to optimize strategies for multinational firms in research-intensive industries. Ever since, he has developed this research stream presenting papers and publishing his work in journals and conference proceedings. Recently, his research was published in the Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS), the world’s premier journal in the field of international business. Dr Mishra has keen interest in other research streams such as social capital, human empowerment, business ethics, spiritual face of management, and cross-cultural management issues. He has been making original contributions in these fields and is often invited to share his views at various international forums and seminars on related issues. He has been a reviewer of others’ scholarly work at the Academy of International Business (AIB) and the International Management Division of the Academy of Management (AOM: 2000-06). Dr. Mishra was an active member of the Mid-Hudson Technology Council Startup Committee and has co-chaired a subcommittee of the Innovation Working Group which was a key part of the National Innovation Initiative in US. He was the regional coordinator of the Earth Charter USA Initiative promoting awareness of sustainability issues. He is also the founding faculty advisor for the Student Organization for Business Ethics and Research (SOBER) spread over several American campuses. Dr Mishra’s multidisciplinary education and work experience attained in cross-cultural settings has enriched his understanding of international business and strategic management. Living, working and studying in the US gives him an authentic cross-cultural perspective that is essential for a specialist of international business. His industry experience gives him hands-on expertise in cross-functional aspects of business which is central to the disciplines of strategic management and international business. He worked as a design engineer, a project manager for a consortium of multinational firms, and as an executive for a renowned consulting firm specializing in turnkey project consultancy and new venture management projects.
