12 February 2015 was a major day in G D Goenka World Institute and Lancaster University’s annual calendar. The day marked the 5th Graduation Ceremony of G D Goenka World Institute | Lancaster University. The function held at The Grand, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi conferred Lancaster University degrees on 170 students who completed Lancaster degrees at G D Goenka World Institute. For the first time, three engineering students were awarded their degrees. Students, parents, faculty, guests and others witnessed what was effectively the culmination of the hard work of the graduating students and the immense support that they received from several individuals.
Subhajyoti Ghosh (BEng, Mechanical Engineering) received the Chancellor’s medal (in absentia) for outstanding academic performance. Anjali Agrawal (PGDBM) received the Gopi Ram Goenka Medal in recognition of outstanding performance in curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities by a postgraduate student.
Subhashish Pradhan (BBA, Business Studies) received the Gopi Ram Goenka Medal in recognition of outstanding performance in curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities by an undergraduate student.
Professor Suku Bhaskaran (Director, GDGWI) delivered the Welcome Address. He thanked guests, congratulated the students and went on to discuss major strides the Institute has taken in its short history.
Professor Robert McKinley (Special Adviser, Vice Chancellors Office) delivered the Opening Address. Professor McKinley spoke of the significance of the day and the value of obtaining qualifications from a premier institution such as Lancaster University.
Mr Rob Lynes (Director, British Council India), the Chief Guest, delivered the Graduation Address. Rob discussed his life experiences and offered insights on the big issues that these students need to focus in work and life.
